Dolores (Loló) Soldevilla (1901-1971) is widely recognized as a pioneer of geometrical abstraction in Cuba. Her appointment as Cuba's Cultural Attaché for Europe in 1948 led to her settling in Paris and embarking on an illustrious artistic career.
To showcase Loló Soldevilla's collage work, an exhibition has been curated and the resulting catalogue features an illuminating essay by Rafael DiazCasas. The author has provided valuable insight and contribution regarding Loló's connection with Paris, contextualizing her work and life and providing clues for a comprehensive understanding of her journey and personality. The essay also includes previously unpublished archival documents, further enriching the exhibition.
The Centre Georges Pompidou has allowed the reproduction of Jesús Rafael Soto's work, which is part of their museum collection. Additionally, the Bibliothèque Kandinsky has provided access to their archives, contributing to the exhibition's comprehensive and scholarly presentation.
